""Christian Mirra is a very talented illustrator whose technical expertise allows him to create work in a wide variety of styles and media. Not only is he fast and reliable, he unstintingly contributes his own creative input to a brief, so that the ultimate result is a dynamic synergy between creators that nevertheless maintains the integrity of the original breif. He's also great to work with, cheerful and warm and about as far from a pretentious, spoiled artistic diva as you could imagine. I highly recommend him to anyone."

-Xavier Waterkeyn, writer and performer at Flying Pigs (Australia)

The galleries in this section show the development of my illustration style from 2002 to present; and from traditional to digital mediums.

Illustration studies

I am mostly self-taught in drawing techniques. I have loved drawing since I was a child, and soon I got interested in all kind of books teaching drawing techniques- especially since 2000, when I discovered the great public libraries of Barcelona.

The years 2004-2005 represented a turning point in my studies, when I discovered the  Circle of Saint Lluc of Barcelona, where I could sketch and paint with live models for 24 hours a week. Then In 2005 I passed the selection to enter a course of Advanced Illustration in the School of Art and Design "Massana", where I had to occasion to study with accomplished professionals  (Gabriela Rubio, Noemi Villamuza, and Elenio Pico. ) Illustration for Children Books, for Magazines, and Flash animation.

In the last couple of years I have been fully dedicated in studying Graphic Storytelling, with the supervision of our fiction guru Sergio D'Argenio, who has been sending me new books at a rate of one per week.

Currently I am studying the software Manga Studio EX in order to transfer the full process of creting comics on digital mediums.

Illustration tools

In the past I was very fond of colored pencils, as you will see in the works until 2006. Currently I still love pencilling, although I prefer to do the coloring completely on digital mediums for faster and more professional results.

Mostly, I now draw and paint with a Wacom Intuos4 Tablet and Photoshop (or Illustrator and Flash, when vector illustration is required).
